General Information

Piedmont is situated in the North-Western part of Italy, bordering France. It is well-known for its red wines (Barolo, Barbaresco) and for the Langhe truffles. Surrounded by the Alps and spotted by picturesque lakes, such as Lake Orta, Lake Viverone and Lake Maggiore, it is a green paradise stretching from Turin to the Lombardy Region. Castles and hamlets spot the Roero and Monferrato areas, which border the greatest rice fields in Italy and in the world, in terms of quality.

A gay vacation starts from the capital of Piedmont, Turin, rich of Baroque architecture, first siege of the Italian monarchy. Gay bars and clubs are in the centre and on the Po river coast: Queever is a Sunday party which takes place at Kogin’s Club. The Centralino Club, LGBTQ+ friendly, is in the centre and it features great music, aperitives and lot of young people. It is a pioneer in the Turin gay community, as the bar opened in 1975.   L’Altro/Sponda Aperitivo is a gay bar welcoming also straights.

Turin best gay-friendly hotels are The Diplomatic Hotel****, the NH Lingotto****, the Best Quality Hotel Gran Mogo*** and the Hotel Dock Milano***, all with excellent locations and highly professional staff. A well-known sauna club is 011 Sauna Club, featuring long-running service including cruise for gay men. Also, Garage Club Torino, which features Finnish saunas and weekly themes parties for naked, underwear, military and bears.

Since 2017, the State University of Turin organizes course on the LGBTQ+ history in Italy and in the world.
